Taz Douglas has been confirmed in the second seat at Lucas Dumbrell Motorsport ahead of this weekend’s Clipsal 500 in Adelaide.
The Victorian emerged as a late contender for the seat alongside 16-year-old Alex Rullo.
Aaren Russell had been hotly tipped to secure the drive after sharing the #3 entry at the recent Sydney Motorsport Park test.
Douglas is familiar face at the Melbourne squad having driven for the team during the 2012 Supercars season.
The 33-year-old was then recruited to Nissan in 2013 to drive with James Moffat in the Pirtek Enduro Cup and in 2014, the pair took second place at the Supercheap Auto Bathurst 1000.
Last season Douglas won the third-tier Kumho V8 Touring Cars title.
The length of the deal remains unclear at this stage.
“When Lucas gave me the call up, there was no other option than to say yes,” said Douglas.
“I’m really looking forward to getting back into the car and being able to get some decent laps in.
“There’s obviously more track time than when racing in the Dunlop Series, so I can’t wait to get out there and just put my head down and do my best.
“Now I’m just going to make sure that I go out there and give it my all and bring the car home in one piece.”
Team boss Lucas Dumbrell is eagerly anticipating Douglas’ return to the squad.
“I’m really happy to have Taz back on board for the first race of the season,” said Dumbrell.
“Obviously it’s been a bit of a waiting game as to who we had in the second seat, but I’m glad that this is out in the open and we can just focus on going racing.”
The Virgin Australia Supercars hit the track for Practice 1 at 9:40am AEST, Friday March 3.
