Lloyd completes Formula 4 Sandown sweep

Jordan Lloyd further confirmed his potential by securing a clean sweep of victories in the fourth round of the CAMS Jayco Formula 4 Championship at Sandown.

The Team BRM driver followed a fast starting Luis Leeds into Turn 1 before executing a stunning move for the lead around the outside of the Dream Motorsport entry at Turn 6 on the opening lap.

Leeds kept the pressure on Lloyd but was unable to close in enough to try a move for the lead.

The introduction of the Safety Car to retrieve Zane Goddard’s car, who spun out of third at Turn 4 on lap 6, put the race win in doubt but Lloyd made no mistakes at the restart.

In the end, Lloyd claimed his third win of the weekend by 0.8s from Leeds.

The battle for third provided plenty of entertainment but it was AGI Sport’s Jimmy Vernon who clinched the final place on the podium after fending off Dream Motorsport’s Thomas Randle.

Will Brown was 0.7s adrift of Randle in fifth ahead of Harry Hayek, Tom Grech and Jordan Love.

Team BRM’s Frankie Maiolo and Formula 4 rookie Caitlin Wood completed the top 10.

Lloyd’s clean sweep has seen him take the round win and further extend his championship lead over Randle.

The CAMS Jayco Formula 4 Championship continues at the Castrol Gold Coast 600 from October 23-25.
