Matt Mingay’s popular drift demonstrations have been postponed indefinitely following a request from Supercars.
The Gold Coast stuntman and his team had been set to perform his drift show at this weekend’s Coates Hire Ipswich Super Sprint before being told to revise the format of his show by Supercars.
Mingay’s show usually involves two custom built drift cars which performs a series of stunts during breaks in between competitive sessions on Supercars race weekends.
This weekend’s performance at Queensland Raceway has been restricted to only the bike element.
Mingay says he is currently reformatting his show in accordance with Supercars’ new directive.
“We’re redeveloping our show, we’re reformatting our show to make it bigger and better and faster than ever before,” Mingay told Speedcafe.com.
“We’re Australia’s number one professional drifters and therefore we do the drift demos at Supercars rounds.
“We re-examined it and we want to redevelop it so the next round should be bigger and better than ever before.”
Mingay is scheduled to appear next on the Supercars program at the Sandown 500 from September 15-17.
