Cawley’s Mini ended up in a violent roll after leaving the road at the fast Turn 1.
A significant emergency services presence was quickly on the scene including helicopter support.
Fears of life-threatening injuries have thankfully been allayed today with the series confirming via social media that Cawley is set to leave hospital today.
No details of his injuries have been released, however the statement says he is expected to make a full recovery.
“Good news, [the] Supermini driver that was involved in a large accident at [Sydney Motorsport Park] yesterday is hoping to walk out of hospital today,” the post reads.
“Thanks to the strength of his AGI cage and [the] Supermini the driver is expected to make a full recovery.
