Rod Nash says that he is not interested in a drawn out driver signing process and wants to wrap up his new driver soon.
After Paul Dumbrell announced his premature retirement from full-time V8 Supercars competition at the end of this year, Nash has become one of the most team owners in V8s, hounded by potential drivers wanting to fill Dumbrell’s role in the #55 The Bottle-O Racing Falcon FG.
Nash admits he’s had many approaches from candidates and heard all of the rumours of potential driver, but the only thing he could confirm was that he is very keen to lock in his driver in the coming weeks.
“It is always better to have a short set of negotiations, get it signed and get it out there,” Nash told Speedcafe.com.
“At the same time, we’re only a week into it (since Dumbrell made his announcement), and we’ve got to be realistic about it. I’ll probably go for another two weeks, given that we have Queensland Raceway, but certainly I’d expect it to be done in a short period.”
The favourite for the seat in the green and white Falcon is out-of-contract Fujitsu Racing driver Lee Holdsworth, while there are a number of other current full-time V8 drivers and endurance drivers who are rated highly on the list of potentials.
