The newly formed Australian Professional Drag Racing Series has announced a 12-round 2015/16 schedule.

A unified series following the healing of recent conflict between ANDRA and several key venues, the calendar includes the recently held Nitro Up North and NT Titles meetings at Hidden Valley.

The season will continue with a full array of categories at Sydney Dragway’s East Coast Nationals on November 7-8 and run through until Willowbank Raceway’s Fuchs Winternationals finale in June.

Perth Motorplex is set to host four events during the season, with two each at Sydney Dragway, Willowbank Raceway, Calder Park Raceway and the Hidden Valley Drag Strip.

Unlike a proposed breakaway calendar announced in June, the new series does not feature any events at Adelaide International Raceway.

Top Fuel, Top Fuel Motorcycle and Pro Stock Motorcycle will each run at six of the events, while Top Doorslamer (nine events), Top Alcohol (eight) and Pro Stock (four) are also key parts of the schedule.

The track action is topped up by Summit Racing Equipment Sportsman Series brackets at four of the events.

Willowbank Raceway president and series spokesperson Tony Wedlock says confirmation of the calendar from the recently formed Racing Commission is a significant step in drag racing’s rebirth.

“It’s an exhilarating time for Australia’s pro categories, and today’s confirmation of the 2015/16 calendar marks the beginning of what will be the biggest, and best season for the sport,” Wedlock said.

“We’re excited to see events at Australia’s three leading venues, Perth Motorplex, Sydney Dragway and Willowbank Raceway, as well as Hidden Valley Drag Strip and a return to Calder Park Raceway.”

A new series name, branding and an all-new broadcast package is set to be announced in the coming weeks.
