The Irishman will drive for new team Matt Stone Racing in the Development V8 category this year, with assistance from leading team V8 Championship Stone Brothers Racing.
Cregan, the son of Yas Marina Circuit CEO Richard Cregan, told Speedcafe.com.au that he is aiming at running inside the top 10.
“I never like to set expectations too high, but I'm pretty confident we can get inside the top 10,” he said.
“I'm confident of a good top 10 position.”
Cregan, 21, has been competing in sportscar racing in Europe.
