Nick Foster has confirmed he will compete in the entire Carrera Cup title in 2012.

After a one-off round at Carrera Cup’s season-finale at the Sydney Telstra 500 last December, the 19-year-old has elected to take in a full season of Porsche competition.

The former leading Formula Ford driver will enjoy the support of Money Choice for 2012, but is undecided on which team will prepare the car. Speedcafe.com understands that either Team BRM and Melbourne Performance Centre are likely to prepare his GT3 Cup Type 997 entry.

Foster will drive the car that Matthew Coleman drove last year.

The Queenslander was delighted to confirm his 2012 racing plans.

“Homebush was basically a test to see where I was going to drive this year,” Foster told Speedcafe.com.

“At the time, I still had my heart set on going to the United States, but it is hard to do that without a lot of backing. I had to let that dream go, so Matt (George) from Money Choice has picked me up and given me this great opportunity.

“I’m looking forward to a big year. I went to Sydney with no expectation and ended up having a ball. I wobbled around a bit, trying to keep the car clean because we were running on a pretty tight budget, doing our own thing.

“To come away with fourth place in the final round was a decent result.

“Something more has come from that and I was more than happy to send my career down that path.”

While Foster’s expections are limited, the racer within is keen to be at the front of the field.

“Anything I do, I want to do it well and be at the pointy end, but the reality is that I’ll be a rookie, and the competition is extremelly tough,”

“I need to learn as much as I can from the team, and the first half of the year will be about trying to adopt to the car, its limits. We might come unstuck at a couple of points, but I look at guys like Ben Barker. Last year was his first year in the class, and he started off a bit sketchy, but by the end of the year, he made great progress.

“My personal goal is to stick it at the pointy weekend, every weekend. I want to be at the front. I just want to make sure it all comes together nicely and make sure I get a solid year under my belt.”

Foster hopes to test either two or three times before the first round at the Adelaide Parklands, supporting the Clipsal 500.
