Lee Holdsworth and Rick Kelly have copped points penalties for separate incidents in Race 3 at Bahrain International Circuit yesterday.
The Holden drivers were penalised for “driving in a careless manner.”
Fujitsu Racing’s Holdsworth was docked 20 points, reduced to 15 after an appeal, for contact with Alex Davison’s Irwin Racing Falcon on lap one of the race.
Jack Daniel’s Racing’s Kelly copped a 10 point penalty for his incident with Supercheap Auto Racing’s Russell Ingall.
While Holdsworth admitted guilt to his incident, the Fujitsu-backed team is bemused why they were given a larger points penalty for exactly the same “careless driving” penalty.
“We understand that Lee has made contact with Alex Davison and there was an incident they’ve investigated and charged him with,” said team manager Kevin Shawyer.

“But all the other charges for careless driving have been given a penalty of 10 championship points.
“In our case, we’ve been pinged 15 championship points. It seems a little bit inconsistent. Why is everyone else only getting 10?”
Speedcafe.com.au spoke to chief steward Steve Chopping, who said that the “degree of seriousness of the breach” was the reason for the harsher points penalty.
