Paul Morris Motorsport will start the 2010 V8 Supercar Championship Series with just one Triple Eight Race Engineering-built Holden Commodore VE.
Russell Ingall will drive the team’s first Triple Eight-built Commodore, while PMM’s yet-to-be-named second driver will start the year in Ingall’s current Commodore.
A second T8-built car for Morris’s team is expected to make its debut at Round 3 of next year’s championship in Adelaide for the Clipsal 500 – the first round of next year’s series on Australian soil (the first two rounds of the championship are in teh Middle East).
“Russell’s (T8) car is halfway done now, it’s on the jig and it’s looking pretty good,” Paul Morris told Speedcafe.
“The Triple Eight guys have finished their first car and just about to start the second one. We’ll have Russell’s car finished and in paint before Christmas, and then we’ll start on the next one soon after that, so we’ll take Russell’s current car to the Middle East.”
Morris admitted that the situation isn’t preferred, however, there are positives that can be taken from it.
“It’s not the ideal way, but if you look at the positive side, we’ll have a brand-new car and a known car that we can benchmark the new car against it.
“I’m pretty sure we’ll all get a handle on it pretty quick. We’ve got a car there that we know pretty well.”
