Despite missing the first two rounds of the Rally America Series, Victorian Brendan Reeves is the favourite to win the two-wheel-drive title at the final round, the Lake Superior Performance Rally this weekend.
Since securing a drive with Team O'Neil in a Ford Fiesta R2, he and his co-driving sister, Rhianon Gelsomino, have won each of the four rounds they have contested.
Currently sitting second on the championship table, just three points behind series leader Andrew Comrie-Pickard, Reeves can claim the title if things go his way. Should he win the event and Comrie-Pickard finishes second, Reeves will claim the title by two points. If Reeves finishes second and Comrie-Pickard third in the event, they will finish the season on the same points tally but Reeves will win on a count back as he has claimed more event wins than his rival.
It's set to be a battle royale but Reeves is confident he and his Team O'Neil Ford Fiesta R2 will be up to the challenge.
“Our whole season has been incredible so far and for it to come down to this at the last round is amazing,” Reeves said.
“I can't wait for the battle to begin and take on the challenge flat out.”
Reeves' season in the US has seen him outpace a number of turbo-charged all-wheel-drive entries. Only the likes of Ken Block in his WRC-Spec Fiesta RS consistently setting quicker times than Reeves.
