DJR Team Penske is aiming to have Scott Pye's Ford back on track by this afternoon's race following its heavy crash in Practice 3.
Pye walked away unhurt after a brake failure saw the Penske Truck Rentals Ford slam head-on into the Turn 3 tyre barrier.
DJR Team Penske mechanics immediately began stripping the front-end of the car after it returned to the pitlane.
The four-layer tyre wall enabled the car to escape front-end chassis damage, leaving the team confident it will return to the track.
A team spokesman however told Speedcafe.com that the team will not send the car out unless it is deemed 100 percent safe.
Pye noted that missing a race would be particularly ill-timed considering that he is currently hunting for a new drive for 2017.
“It's not the time I need to be out of the car,” Pye told Speedcafe.com.
“I want to be in it and doing the best job that I can.
“We were really confident with the car this weekend.”
