Stratco Racing driver David Reynolds is the second V8 Supercars driver to star in a national television commercial in the past days.
After Vodafone launched its ‘What's power to me?' commercial with Craig Lowndes (CLICK HERE for yesterday's story), hardware retailer and building supplies manufacturer Stratco has launched its advertisement for its Handi-Mate Shed.
The Kelly Racing youngster features in the promotion alongside athletes from fellow Stratco-backed teams the Adelaide Thunderbirds (netball), Adelaide United (soccer) and reigning Super Rugby champions, the Queensland Reds (rugby union).
The ad brings out the cheeky side of Reynolds, who starred in another Stratco commercial earlier this year alongside team-mate and Kelly Racing co-owner Rick Kelly.
“It was awesome fun shooting this commercial for Stratco,” said Reynolds.
“There was a lot more to making this second ad. I had a speaking role in this one, so getting my lines right was the hardest part.
“I love the toy theme and the fact that all four Stratco teams were represented.”
Shane Jones, Group Marketing Manager for Stratco, said that he was pleased to give Reynolds a speaking role in this latest ad, after the V8 young gun appeared in a glass case in an earlier Stratco commercial released in March this year.
“With Dave's improved performances of late in our Stratco V8 Supercar we thought it was a good time to let him loose out of his glass case and give him a speaking role,” said Jones.
“It's rare to have four national sporting teams featured in the one ad. It was great for us to bring together all four Stratco-backed teams and have a bit of fun with our athletes at the shoot.”
The first Stratco TVC featuring Reynolds and Kelly has been viewed on YouTube over 10,000 times.
“The Supercar Garage ad is in fact the highest viewed TVC on YouTube that Stratco has ever made,” said Jones.
Reynolds will team up with Tim Blanchard in the #16 Stratco Commodore at the first endurance event of the 2011 V8 Supercars Championship, the L&H 500 at the Phillip Island Grand Prix Circuit, on September 16-18.
