AFTER an impressive go karting career on the tar circuits, Brock Kenny has a new challenge ahead of him during the 2023-24 season via an exciting move into Sprintcar racing.

Despite coming from a speedway family, the 23-year-old from Bunbury in Western Australia has never previously competed on a dirt speedway, instead going down the tar circuit route via go karting from the age of six, but that has come to an end now after teaming up car owner Josh Agrizzi aboard his WX # 27 Maxim car.
The Kenny and Agrizzi combination are supported by Neville Porker from RN Porker Motorsport, and Kenny is excited about his venture into Sprintcar racing.

“I’ve grown up around Sprintcars and also spent a few seasons pit crewing on a Sprintcar team, so to be able to get the opportunity to race a full season in one is a dream come true,” expressed Kenny.

“After coming from a go karting background, I don’t have any previous dirt track experience to fall back on, but I’m well supported by both Josh and Neville, which gives me added confidence heading my first season.”

Leading up to the beginning of the 2023-24 season, Kenny has enjoyed two practice meetings (Bunbury Speedway and Perth Motorplex) and last Saturday’s race meeting at Ellenbrook Speedway.

“The team had leased a Limited Sprintcar engine for my first few outings and it’s allowed me to be able to make a steady move into Sprintcar racing,” he said.

“My first race meeting at Ellenbrook Speedway was an encouraging one, and I was able to grow in confidence throughout the meeting and by the time the feature race came away, I was able to move through the field and finish just off the podium in fourth.”

For his rookie Sprintcar season, Kenny has set realistic aims as he is set to jump between 410 and 360 Sprintcar competition.

“The goals for my first season are to get as much track time as possible and I’d like to consistently improve with every outing and try and move towards becoming a top-five contender,” Kenny enthused.

“I know that stepping into Sprintcars as a dirt track rookie is going to be a massive challenge, but it’s one that I’m going to try and grab with both hands and see where I end up at the end of each night.”

With nearly two decades in go karting on the tar circuits, which includes the highlights being a Northern Territory Title win in Juniors Rookies class (2012) and a Western Australian Title victory in Seniors TAG 125 Light class (2018), Kenny’s rookie Sprintcar season is certainly an exciting prospect.

Despite Kenny not being an established name on the Sprintcar scene, Porker has been involved in Sprintcar racing for nearly a decade now – firstly in Victoria and more recently Western Australia. The drivers to step into Neville’s VA # 27 car include Brenten Farrer, Scott Bogucki and Kaiden Manders. When it comes to a highlight for the team so far, it’s by far when they won the preliminary feature race in what was a big upset performance during the 2020 Grand Annual Classic at Premier Speedway in Victoria with team driver Bogucki. For Agrizzi, he is an experienced crew chief, where he has worked with many drivers, such as Bogucki, and has now taken on the additional role as a car owner.

Tonight (October 18) will see Kenny make his 410 Sprintcar debut during the practice night at the Perth Motorplex, but the rest of his rookie Sprintcar season schedule is yet to be confirmed.

Kenny and his team would like to thank their 2023-24 season supporters:
