Supercars has confirmed sprint events will run under a new name throughout the 2020 season.

The championship has today announced that SuperSprint rounds will adopt the Super400 banner next year.

A name change has arrived to better describe the sprint events, which have undergone format changes for 2020, with two 200km races now slated over a weekend, instead of the current 120km (Saturday) and 200km (Sunday) model.

Super400 will replace the SuperSprint moniker, which was introduced in 2014, with the new title to be used for events at Symmons Plains, Winton, Hidden Valley and Sandown.

Meanwhile, the Formula 1 Australian Grand Prix supporting round at Albert Park will be known as the International Super400.

“Super400 reflects the change we’ve made to the sprint format for 2020, to offer a better Saturday experience to our fans,” said Supercars CEO Sean Seamer on the championship’s official website.

“We’ve put a real focus on delivering a better product on Saturdays and believe going to 200km is a win for fans both at the track and watching on television.”

Supercars will continue to use the SuperStreet and SuperNight names for its street circuit events at Adelaide, Townsville and Newcastle, and night races at Perth, Sydney and the Gold Coast.
