The Team 18 driver was holding ninth place in the closing stages of this evening’s 100-kilometre race only for his efforts to unravel with four laps to go.
That was when he was hit in the rear by Jack Le Brocq and spun at Turn 6 which left him momentarily stranded and at the back of the field.
The incident yielded Le Brocq a 15-second time penalty, which dropped him to 24th in the final standings because of the late safety car that stemmed from the clash.
That promoted Reynolds to second-last in the classification despite finishing last on the road.
“I went half-defensive into Turn 6 and I think Le Brocq tried to pass me a bit too late,” Reynolds told Speedcafe.
“I was late on the brakes, he was trying to go later and he just clipped me and sent me into the weeds.

“I was holding onto ninth, I’m pretty sure I could have finished ninth, and I’d rather be ninth than 23rd, where I finished.
“It sucks. It’s always the worst when it happens with two laps to go because you work your arse off and go through all the stress and emotion, and then you get turfed out with two laps to go.
“It’s like, ‘can’t you just do that on Lap 1?’. Then at least you can try and come back from it.”
Reynolds also explained his struggle to get his Camaro restarted after the spin, which led to race control throwing a safety car right before the car fired back up.
“As I was spinning it went into half-dying mode,” he said.
“When I stopped I flicked it off but it kept turning over and making an odd noise. I had to wait for it to fully die and try and bark it back up.
“There was flames coming up the side and stuff like that. I had to wait for all of that to clear and then all of a sudden it went again.”
Le Brocq was quick to apologise for his part in the incident when interviewed by Fox Sports after the race.
“Firstly, apologies there to Davey on that one,” said Le Brocq.
“We had a go. We had the speed over Davey and [Ryan Wood] there and were just trying to make those couple of spots at the end.
“Unfortunately, it didn’t pay off. Apologies to him on that one.”
