Triple Eight Race Engineering driver Jackson Walls was baulked by Kostecki during qualifying for Race 1 at Symmons Plains.
The penalty drops Kostecki to fifth and elevates Andre Heimgartner (Brad Jones Racing) and David Reynolds (Team 18) to third and fourth respectively.
Kostecki will start alongside sixth-place qualifier Cameron Hill (Brad Jones Racing). Walls will start from 11th.
“I think it was probably warranted,” remarked Garth Tander on Fox Sports’ coverage.
“You could actually hear from the audio Jackson Walls having to get out of the throttle, which delays your run down to Turn 4.
“Ironically, we saw Brodie Kostecki getting frustrated with Cooper Murray in practice yesterday at that exact point where Brodie felt he was getting held up.
“Two spots, not the end of the world, probably warranted. It won’t faze Brodie Kostecki whatsoever.”
Race 1 of the Tasmania Super440 at Symmons Plains is scheduled for 1:00pm AEST.
