For the third time this season, the Repco Supercars Championship will enjoy racing across all three days.

Friday’s race is a 35-lap, 100km sprint with a pit stop to change tyres. Saturday and Sunday, meanwhile, will each feature 70-lap, 200km races with tyre changes and refuelling.

Triple Eight’s Broc Feeney holds a slender lead in the drivers’ championship over Grove Racing driver Matt Payne.

A meagre 15 points split the two Ford stars vying for the Sprint Cup.

As it stands, it’s an all-Ford top five with Cameron Waters (Tickford Racing) in third, Brodie Kostecki (Dick Johnson Racing) fourth and Kai Allen (Grove Racing) in fifth.

Anton De Pasquale is the best of the rest in sixth for Chevrolet Camaro squad Team 18.

History would suggest that Townsville is a happy hunting ground for Triple Eight. Seven-time Supercars champion Jamie Whincup and three-time champion Shane van Gisbergen were dominant during their tenure at Triple Eight with 12 and 10 wins apiece.

Of the current Supercars full-timers, Waters is the most successful with three race wins. Feeney has two, both of which came during Supercars’ 2025 visit. De Pasquale, Kostecki, Payne and Will Brown all have one Townsville win to their name.

In the Gen3 era, there has been no dominant team with Triple Eight and Dick Johnson Racing each with two wins while Grove Racing, Tickford Racing and Erebus Motorsport all have one win.

When is the Townsville 500?

The NTI Townsville takes place on July 10-12 at the Reid Park Street Circuit.
