As drivers battle it out to secure their places in the 2026 Finals, there’s increasing intrigue over which tracks will feature in next year’s post-season.

Phillip Island is being tipped to take Sandown’s place as the Semi-Final round between the Gold Coast and Adelaide.

Supercars’ 2027 calendar plans are all pending crucial Teams Racing Charter negotiations that will determine how many events take place.

It’s believed Supercars’ desire is to return to Phillip Island in Sandown’s current slot, with Sandown moving into the Sprint Cup in place of Queensland Raceway.

Talks to bring Supercars back to Phillip Island for the first time since 2019 began off the back of news MotoGP will leave the venue for Adelaide.

The Victorian Government-funded Australian Grand Prix Corporation promotes the MotoGP race and is at the centre of those conversations.

Take the short survey.

A November date for Supercars at Phillip Island would ensure it does not conflict with the AGPC’s work on the Albert Park F1 event in March/April.

It’d also give the best possible chance of fan-friendly conditions at the seaside circuit, which struggled to draw a crowd when it was last on the calendar.

Phillip Island has featured deep in the Supercars season previously, including holding the final round from 2005 to 2007.

It’d be a significant wildcard in the 2027 Finals, though, given Supercars’ Gen3 machines have not raced at the fast and flowing venue that is notoriously tough on tyres.

Any tyre failures could decide the make-up of the Grand Final, while the consequences would also be high for any roughhouse Finals driving.

MotoGP’s move is already destined to change the flow of the Supercars Finals as it will result in the Adelaide Grand Final being run on a revised circuit.
