The executive made a sudden departure from Supercars in April, less than a year after resuming the position he’d previously held from 2013-17.
Warburton has now agreed to become a consultant for the South Australian circuit, working alongside owner Sam Shahin.
The role’s focus is said to be on growing the venue’s corporate, motoring and events business beyond its core motorsport operations.
“I have been fortunate to work with world-class sporting facilities throughout my career, but The Bend genuinely stopped me in my tracks,” said Warburton.
“What Sam and the team have built in regional South Australia is extraordinary, it is a world-class precinct that deserves to be leveraged far beyond race weekends.
“I am excited to work alongside Sam to unlock that potential.”
Warburton was at the helm of Supercars when a deal was struck for The Bend to join the calendar after it opened in 2018.
“James has an exceptional track record of building commercial value around major sporting assets,” said Shahin.
“We go back a long way, and I have always respected his vision and his ability to connect the right people.
“Having him alongside me as we grow the non-core areas of our business is a real asset for The Bend.”
