Aussie Racing Cars
Daniel Price has qualified on pole for Round 2 of Aussie Racing Cars at Symmons Plains in just his third round start in the series.
The South Australian ended up in a battle with the returning Adam Uebergang for top spot after a mid-session red flag.
Joel Heinrich, also back in the field having stepped up to Super2 after winning the Aussie Racing Cars title last year, was fastest when Brad Woods spun and got stuck at Turn 2.
When green flags flew again with 10 minutes remaining, it was Price who went to the top before he was usurped by Adam Uebergang on the second laps after the stoppage.
Price would edge him by just 0.0359s another lap later and that 1:10.2252s held up as the pole lap.
Behind Price and Uebergang will be a second row of Kel Treseder and Blake Sciberras, then Dunlop Super2 Series leader Bryce Fullwood, Round 1 winner Justin Ruggier, and Heinrich.
Tomorrow sees a 20-lap race at 1025 local time/AEDT and a 14-lapper at 1445.
Porsche Michelin GT3 Cup Challenge
Ryan Suhle ended the day fastest of all Porsche Michelin GT3 Cup Challenge runners at Symmons Plains after two 30 minute practice sessions.
Suhle headed 17-year-old Christian Pancione in Practice 2 with Harri Jones in third.
It was an interrupted session after Max Vidau suffered a right rear wheel failure.
The red flag was shown to allow officials to recover the stricken wheel and car from near pit entry, the session extended by five minutes as a result.
Vidau had been on the fastest lap of the session at that point, setting the quickest time to the second split before the wheel broke.
The sessions restarted with just over six minutes to run, with Suhle, Pancione, and Jones all setting their best times on their final lap of the session.
Earlier, Aaron Love had topped proceedings with a 52.9381s, a time 0.0005s slower than Suhle's afternoon effort.
Vidau was second fastest in a Sonic Motor Racing one-two, with Pancione third quickest.
GT3 Cup Challenge heads out on track at 0920 on Saturday morning for a 20 minute qualifying session, ahead Race 1 at 1225, and Race 2 at 1525.
