TCR Australia will host a test day for prospective customers and drivers at Winton next month.
The growing two litre touring car category has set aside a test day on Monday, September 2 to encourage drivers that are keen to sample TCR machinery to test the vehicles.
Held following the fifth round of the series at the Victorian circuit, the test is only open to drivers that are yet to compete in a TCR Australia round, while the series’ current drivers are prohibited from driving.
TCR Australia teams Wall Racing (Honda Civic Type R), HMO Customer Racing (Hyundai) and Garry Rogers Motorsport, which runs Alfa Romeos and Renaults, have so far committed to the test.
“The series has created strong interest, the close racing result in a great opportunity for drivers to hone their racecraft and potentially race internationally in the exact same machinery,” said category manager Liam Curkpatrick.
“Having the opportunity to compete on the world stage at the Australian F1 GP, coupled with the market place relevance of these cars makes this an exciting category that provides genuine opportunity – both commercially and for the driver.
“The test day is all about providing a chance to those that are considering racing in the category to sample it first hand.”
