V8 Supercars team owners Roland Dane and Garry Rogers are expected to sample modern day V8 Supercars at Mount Panorama next weekend.
Amongst a raft of old cars completing parade and demonstration laps, Dane and Rogers will bring two of their former Bathurst 1000 winning cars to the circuit as part of the 50 year celebrations.
Dane will drive the #888 Betta Electrical-backed Ford Falcon that won the 2006 Bathurst 1000, while Rogers could steer the 2000-winning Valvoline/Cummins Commodore.
If Rogers is not available to drive the car, its former winning driver Jason Bargwanna could potentially drive it during the hot laps.
There will be two parade and demonstration sessions held – one on Saturday and one on Sunday morning. Dane is expected to drive the Falcon on Saturday, while the car’s restorer and former #1 mechanic Garry Bailey will drive it on Sunday.
Other race-winning cars expected to blow off their cobwebs and celebrate ‘The Great Race’s’ 50th year at Bathurst include the 2003 Greg Murphy/Rick Kelly Kmart Commodore, the 1986-winning Chickadee Commodore of Allan Grice/Graeme Bailey and the 1992-winning Nissan GT-R of Jim Richards/Mark Skaife.
A host of other cars will be on display in the ‘Legends Museum,’ located at Mount Panorama over the weekend.
Track action begins on Thursday.
