Tekno: No decision yet on Le Brocq future
Jack Le Brocq

Jack Le Brocq

Jack Le Brocq’s future at Tekno Autosports remains unclear as the squad continues to evaluate its options moving forward.

Uncertainly regarding the top rookie of 2018 emerged last month with sources suggesting to Speedcafe.com that unrest in the camp may have seen the team fail to race at Symmons Plains.

Team owner Jonathon Webb cast further doubt regarding his driver’s future when he was unable to confirm if the 26-year-old would be in the #19 car following the WD-40 Phillip Island SuperSprint.

Le Brocq’s second season at Tekno has proved challenging with only one top 15 finish from 10 races in a Triple Eight ZB Commodore that is understood to be running older spec components compared to factory and customer cars run by Team 18 and Matt Stone Racing.

The squad has also been forced into a restructure this year following the loss of team manager Adrian Burgess and engineer Campbell Little to Supercars’ technical department.

Le Brocq’s future remained in doubt when Speedcafe.com spoke to Webb following a pair of 20th place finishes at Phillip Island.

The former Supercars full-timer says he would like Le Brocq to continue but has not spoken with his driver about the future.

“Nothing’s changed. As I said then, have to get through these two rounds and worry about it after that. That’s exactly what we’ll do,” said Webb.

“No, we’ve just been busy racing cars,” he replied when asked if he had spoken to Le Brocq.

“No, nothing’s changed since before Tassie.”

Alex Rullo has ben touted as a possible replacement for Le Brocq although the driver has been linked to TCR and Supercars enduro drives at Kelly Racing.

Webb did confirm that the team would be at the Pirtek Perth SuperNight from May 2-4.

Le Brocq has been advised not to comment on the situation but hinted that he would be heading to Perth in his post event media release.

“Saturday was a bit of a tough one,” said Le Brocq.

“The race started really well for us, and we were trucking along quite well.

“Unfortunately, we didn’t quite have the tyre life we needed to make it count at the end.

“We changed a few things overnight, and it looked after its tyres better in the race today.

“It wasn’t the best result overall, but we’ll take it, it adds to the bank of points, and we’ll move on to the next one.”

The uncertainty around Le Brocq has coincided with the team’s naming rights sponsor expanding its commitment to Supercars.

Truck Assist now sponsors the Supercars grid presentation on Fox Sports and will be the title sponsor of the Winton round in May.
