The Toll Holden Racing Team has admitted it is going through the pains of change at Hidden Valley Raceway this weekend.
After a turbulent few weeks due to the resignation of Walkinshaw Racing CEO Craig Wilson and HRT team manager Rob Crawford, driver’s Garth Tander and James Courtney recorded two poor results in Darwin today – 18th and 25th respectively.
Tander was hamstrung by a pit lane incident when the air spike remained in his car as he left his pit box, ripping down the regulators. Nobody was hurt, but he copped a drive through penalty, plus 10 seconds added to his race time.
Courtney, on the other hand, was caught in the first turn drama at the start of the race and pitted early for repairs.
New Racing Operations Manager Mike Henry admitted that the inner-change at the team has hampered the outfit, but vowed to improve its results.
“We had some issues in practice and qualifying, so when you start where we did you’re in trouble,” Henry said.
“There’s been a lot of changes within our team in the past few weeks and if it was all going to go wrong then today was the day.
“We’ll put our hands up and say we got it wrong. We’ll cop the criticism on the chin but we’ll also learn from what happened and try and improve tomorrow.”
