Kremers is well known in the Australian karting circles. He spent many of his formative years of his professional gearbox career in the Australian KZ2 Championships in the BirelART under the Patrizicorse banner.
In 2023, he represented the brand in the United States, while also working on the spanners for Cruz Kelly in the SP Tools Australian Kart Championships. Kremers made two starts in the Australian Championships through 2023.
It represents a huge career change for the Dutchman, who won the 2019 World KZ Championships and 2020 European Championships. He will link up with Italian veteran Lorenzo Camplese and contest KZKZ2. Camplese is also a former Australian visitor as he travelled down under for the inaugural Gold Coast Race of Stars.
Avramides is in his second year in the single gear, 125cc water-cooled OK, a category that does not run in Australia. It is a multiple engine manufacturers category, which delivers around 26kw (35hp) to the drivers through the reed inducted, electric start motors. It is like the established TaG 125 classes in Australia but delivers a higher power band. Avramides will contest the OK alongside six teammates.
In the meantime, Sebastian Eskandari-Mirandi leaves the team and will join Swedish-based Ward Racing outfit. The 2022 Cadet 12 Australian Champion will contest the OKN-Junior category over five WSK and three Italian Championship events in a Tony Kart chassis with Vortex engines.
Assisting in that transition will be experienced Australian mechanic, Ben George who was instrumental in the deal and will be on the spanners. An accomplished karter himself, George has previously prepared machines for Triple 8’s Broc Feeney, and Jay Kostecki (brother of Kurt and Jake, and cousin to Brodie) in the Australian Cadet 9 Championships.
Tony Kart is the flagship brand of the OTK Kart Group, an Italian-manufacturer in the karting industry. The brand began in the 60s and has developed in line with competition karting within Italy firstly, and then throughout the world.
A large breakthroughs came in the 80s when, with their newly acquired property, the transition was made from what was a small craft business into a real manufacturing company. This coincided with the introduction of the colour green to the chassis which is still a hallmark of the brand.
The manufacturer has had a continuous research and development program for over 30 years alongside the Tony Kart Racing Team in the world’s most prestigious competitions.
