Australian Formula 3 racer Jordan Oon well head into the summer break fourth in the European F3 Open Copa standings, despite a tough weekend at Paul Ricard in France.
After engine problems led to a disappointing outing at Brands Hatch in England last week, Oon and Team West-Tec’s issues continued in practice and the first qualifying session at the French circuit. The problems left Oon eighth on the grid, and it was compounded in the first race with more technical issues, leading to his first retirement of the season.
The lack of running throughout Friday and Saturday left Oon on the back foot for Sunday, although he did manage to make it to the finish, taking 10th position after qualifying eighth.
“It’s been a difficult couple of weeks,” Oon said.
“I’m lost as to why there has been such a turnaround in results and general pace, particularly having run at the front of the field in Rounds 2 and 3.
“There will definitely be some questions asked and some hard work over the summer break, to make sure we are much closer to the front of the field in the second half of the season.”
