Tony D’Alberto has described his horrific Practice 1 crash at the Bathurst 12 Hour as the biggest of his career.

The V8 Supercars driver was taken to Orange hospital for precautionary checks after his Maranello Motorsport Ferrari 458 Italia made heavy contact with the #99 Craft Bamboo Racing Aston Martin at Forest’s Elbow in the closing stages of the session.

D’Alberto has since confirmed via his social media that he is okay and undergoing routine medical checks in hospital.

Maranello Motorsport boss Mark Coffey had confirmed earlier that D’Alberto had been suffering from pain in his shoulder.

“Thanks for all the well wishes. I’m ok, just getting some routine checks at the Hospital. Neck is a little sore, but otherwise ok,” D’Alberto said via his Facebook page.

“(the) Car is badly damaged and I feel terrible for the crew at Maranello Motorsport.

“I was following another car past a gentleman driver in an Aston Martin on the way down the mountain, he was off line and letting cars past…. I don’t think he saw me unfortunately.

“That was easily the biggest crash I have ever had.”
