Organisers have offered a glimpse of the new arena-style Super Special stage that is set to be one of the highlights at this year’s Rally Australia at Coffs Harbour.
The event has unveiled plans to construct a 1.27km layout on the Jordan Esplanade at the coastal New South Wales city, which will host the final round of the World Rally Championship from November 17-20.
The new Super Special, which will feature a spectacular jump and a motocross-style berm corner, is one of several high profile new additions to Rally Australia.
Known as the Destination NSW Super Special Stage, competitors will tackle the route on Friday and Saturday night.
Event chairman Ben Rainsford is confident the new Super Special stage will be well received by spectators.
“What we hope to achieve is to get more people from Coffs Harbour down to the event,” Rainsford told Speedcafe.com.
“We are certainly excited by it. The motocross berm and the jump will give it a wow factor.”
Spectators will also be able to witness drivers tackle the new 1.37km Raleigh Super Special Stage, held at a multi-purpose motorsports facility 20km south of Coffs Harbour.
