One-time F1 racer Markus Winkelhock will headline United Autosport’s Bathurst 12 Hour attack.
The former Spyker F1 driver and Audi customer sports racer will be joined by rookie Eric Lux and United Autosports regular Mark Patterson in the team’s Audi R8 LMS Ultra.
German ace Winkelhock, who led the 2007 European Grand Prix, will bring a wealth of experience to the team, having won the FIA GT1 Championship in 2012 and the Nurburgring 24 Hours.
However, February’s Bathurst 12 Hour will be the 33-year-old’s first appearance at the famous Australian venue.
This year will be Patterson’s third Bathurst 12 Hour and he is well known by the team after competing for the squad in the British and Blancpain GT championships.
While Bathurst debutant Lux has experience in the Grand-Am series in America.
“We are delighted with our driver line-up for the 2014 Bathurst 12-hour race”, said United Autosports team manager Richard Dean.
“To have Markus on board is a great advantage to us with his Audi knowledge and skill.
“To have Mark with us again is fantastic as he is such a consistent driver and one of the best gentlemen drivers out there.
“Plus he knows his way around the Mount Panorama track.
“It is also great to welcome Eric into the team in what will be our third visit to the Australian race.
“We are hopeful of a good result this year after a strong showing last year, at one point we were the leading Audi on track, but unfortunately that campaign ended abruptly with only 10 minutes to go so hopefully this year will be significantly more successful.”
United Autosports will be hoping for better luck at the Australian track after being forced to withdraw from the 2013 race with 10 minutes to go, when heavy rain caused a crash for the crew.
The Bathurst 12 Hour will take place from February 7-9.
