Mark Winterbottom has taken provisional pole for Race 12 of the V8 Supercars Championship at Hidden Valley Raceway this morning.
The Orrcon Steel Ford Performance Racing entry took the top spot ahead of Steve Johnson (Jim Beam Racing) and Jamie Whincup (TeamVodafone).
This session has determined the positions for 11th to 28th, with the top 10 shootout to be held at 12.20pm.
Other drivers to compete in the top 10 shootout include Greg Murphy (Pepsi Max Crew), Craig Lowndes (TeamVodafone), Shane van Gisberegen (SP Tools Racing), Steve Owen (VIP Petfoods Racing), Tim Slade (Lucky 7 Racing), Paul Dumbrell (The Bottle-O Racing) and Lee Holdsworth (Fujitsu Racing).
To prove how close the field is this year, the field was covered by less than one second in the session.
