Marcos Ambrose heads into this weekend’s Watkins Glen International road course event as the favourite, according to local betting agencies.
Ambrose, driver of the #9 DeWalt Ford for Richard Petty Motorsports, will start as the favourite on Australia betting site Bet247.com. The Tasmanian will start the race at a field leading $6 ahead of Kyle Bush $7 and former Formula One driver Juan Pablo Montoya ($7).
Championship leaders Carl Edwards ($21) and Jimmie Johnson ($13) are ninth and eighth on the list respectively.

Ambrose has finished third, second and third in his past three NASCAR Sprint Cup starts at Watkins Glen, but says despite his favourite status, there’s no sure things.
“There are no guarantees of success, so we just have to go there and apply ourselves,” he said.
“We’ve got what I think is a really good car. We’ve tested for the track and we feel good about it. There’s not much we can do aside from turning up and putting our best foot forward.
“It’s been good to me in the past. I know what I need to feel to run fast there. I’m optimistic and confident.”
