Audi squads Phoenix and Jamec Pem Racing have revealed their colours for the weekend’s Liqui-Moly Bathurst 12 Hour.
The German Phoenix squad has again given its look a local flavour, working with the Bathurst Wiradyuri Aboriginal Community to create its scheme.
The livery features the goanna and the platypus, both of which have special meaning to the Wiradyuri people.
Phoenix heads to the event well placed to dethrone reigning winners Nissan with its star line-up of Laurens Vanthoor, Markus Winkelhock and Alex Davison.
Despite leading the majority of last year’s contest, the team has not won the race since its debut appearance in 2012.
Jamec Pem’s lead entry is also among the race favourites, with two-time race winner Christopher Mies joined by fellow German Christopher Haase and Italian Marco Mapelli.
The second car features Garth Tander and Rene Rast – who was a late substitute for the injured Craig Lowndes – and car owner Steve McLaughlan.
Audi is the most prolific manufacturer in the field with seven of the 24 GT3 entries.
Melbourne Performance Centre will run Greg Taylor/Barton Mawer/Nathan Antunes, Marc Cini/Mark Eddy/Christopher Joens and Marcus Marshall/Shae Davies/Theo Koundouris/James Koundouris alongside the Jamec Pem cars.
Kiwi team International Motorsport’s sole entry for Andrew Bagnall/Rick Armstrong/Matt Halliday completes the line-up.
The Marc Cini and International Audis are the only previous generation R8s, with the remainder the 2015 spec cars that are yet to race on the Mountain.
