The FIA World Motor Sport Council has confirmed the dates for the 2020 World Touring Car Cup.
Set to begin in April in Morocco, the 10 event season will see the competition wind up with two Asian events in Macau and Malaysia towards the end of the year.
Its release was one of the missing pieces of the jigsaw for organisers of the Bathurst International, which had been waiting on the global calendar to finalise its date.
Though not part of the championship, the Bathurst International is expected to attract top flight drivers and teams.
A two weekend break between Macau and Sepang potentially offers an opportunity to run an event, with much of the freight already in the region.
Equipment would most likely need to be air freighted to fit the tight turnaround, though the Sepang International Circuit is close to the Kuala Lumpur International Airport, making the journey to Malaysia somewhat simpler.
No confirmation or announcements have yet been made by the Australian Racing Group, which will run its first event at Bathurst in April after taking over the Bathurst 6 Hour from James O’Brien and Yeehah Events.
Also set to make its Mount Panorama debut at the Bathurst International is the S5000 open wheel category, with the FIA expected to clear the series to run at the venue.
