Sam Bird held his nerve amid a charge from Sebastien Buemi to secure victory in the fourth round of the FIA Formula E Championship in Argentina.
The DS Virgin Racing driver made no mistakes from pole position as he comfortably controlled the field in the opening laps with Nico Prost, Lucas di Grassi and Antonio Felix da Costa close behind.
However he was forced to look in his mirrors for the second half of the race with a hard charging Buemi on the prowl.
The Renault e.dams racer had started from the back of the grid after a mistake in qualifying but scythed his way through the field.
A Safety Car caused by Antonio Felix da Costa's stricken Aguri car helped Buemi's cause with the Swiss driver rising to second with moves on Stephane Sarrazin and di Grassi, who had been pushing Bird.
Bird came under attack in the final laps but managed to deal with the pressure admirably to take the flag by 0.7s from Buemi with Abt's di Grassi completing the podium in third.
Venturi's Sarrazin came home in fourth with Prost fifth and the sister Venturi of Loic Duval in sixth.
Buemi continues to lead the championship with a four point advantage over di Grassi while Bird occupies third.
The FIA Formula E Championship heads to Mexico City for the next round of the championship on March 12.
