Brad Jones Racing will showcase a new one-off livery for Nick Percat at Winton today as the squad embarks on a test day for its three car Supercars operation.
The Albury team is set to take the covers off an eye catching blue livery for Percat’s #8 Commodore, courtesy of GM automotive parts supplier ACDelco, at the Victorian circuit.
Percat, who will run the livery at this month’s Red Rooster Sydney Super Sprint, will be joined by team-mates Tim Slade and Tim Blanchard at Winton as BJR undertakes its second test day of the season.
The outfit’s Dunlop Super2 cars will also be in action.
The outfit had planned to test last month prior to the Coates Hire Ipswich Super Sprint, before inclement weather forced the squad to abandon plans.
Team owner Brad Jones says the operation has a busy schedule of programs to complete throughout the day.
BJR’s Pirtek Enduro Cup drivers Macauley Jones (Nick Percat), Ash Wash, (Tim Slade) and Todd Hazelwood (Tim Blanchard) are also set to log laps.
“We did plan to test before we went to Queensland Raceway so it is opportunity to give the co-drivers a run and we have got a couple of things to try, maybe not as many as we would like,” Jones told Speedcafe.com.
“We have got a full day locked in. We have got plenty of stuff to work through.”
Percat says the team has been eagerly awaiting a test day which arrives after a strong weekend at Ipswich that saw the former Bathurst 1000 winner and team-mate Slade claim three top finishes between them.
“We’ve been looking forward to our test day for quite some time,” said Percat.
“Everyone knows we’ve been keeping so busy with repairs, that the time to develop parts and move forward has been limited.
“There’s plenty we want to try out today so the team will be making the most of it.
“Hopefully we can show some good strength and speed by the time the Endurance Cup starts; which isn’t far away.
“I look back a few rounds ago at Darwin where we finished on the podium and want to be back up there again. I know the team are all eager to get back on that level.”
The squad has held off from conducting a test until this point in order to build up an arsenal of items to trial on its struggling Commodores.
Reynolds will be on hand to oversee the run and complete 10 laps as permitted by the driver evaluation day regulations.
Meanwhile, a scheduled rookie test day for Nissan Motorsport’s Simona de Silvestro has been moved to Wednesday.
