Porsche City Index Carrera Cup Australia will return to the Formula One Australian Grand Prix in 2012.
After a successful and entertaining 2011 debut, Porsche City Index Carrera Cup Australia has been invited to return to Albert Park for the 2012 AGP, joining Formula One, V8 Supercars and the historic Group A and C touring car class.
The event will be held on March 15-18, 2012.
Porsche Cars Australia Motorsport Manager Jamey Blaikie says the inclusion of the Porsche championship to the 2012 Formula 1TM Australian Grand Prix was a high priority for the category.
“The Australian Grand Prix is one of the nation‟s most prestigious sporting events and therefore a good fit for one of Australia‟s premium motor racing categories – Carrera Cup,” said Blaikie.
“Carrera Cup‟s return to Australian motorsport at the 2011 Formula 1TM Australian Grand Prix was hugely successful, providing plenty of entertainment and we are thoroughly looking forward to returning to Albert Park in 2012.”
Chief Executive Officer of the Australian Grand Prix Corporation, Andrew Westacott, said that the AGPC is committed to staging the best quality entertainment both on and off the track.
“We are very excited to be welcoming Porsche back to Albert Park as a part of the spectacular on-track entertainment,” said Westacott.
