Casey Stoner has dominated both opening MotoGP practice sessions at Silverstone ahead of this weekend’s British Grand Prix.
The Australian Honda rider held a significant margin over the field in the first session before Gresini Honda’s Marco Simoncelli made some in roads, setting a time that got within 0.6s.
Both Stoner and Simonchelli remained at the top in Practice 2, and the gaps were also similar, however, the conditions were not.
Rain arrived for P2, with many riders opting to get maximum track time, anticipating a week weekend in Silverstone.
The session dried towards the end, with Nicky Hayden (Ducati) taking third place, well ahead of Cal Crutchlow (Tech 3 Yamaha) and Jorge Lorenzo (Yamaha).
Qualifying will be held tomorrow (Saturday) before the race on Sunday.
