Tony D’Alberto has withdrawn from the L&H 500 Phillip Island after contracting chicken pox.
D’Alberto completed eight laps in practice this morning before he elected to sit out the race.
With the 25-year-old’s body covered in red spots and after meeting with V8 Supercars Dr Carl Le, D’Alberto has left Phillip Island, heading for hospital to get checked over.
“I just drove in that session and I didn’t feel right,” D’Alberto told Speedcafe.com.
“I’m not fit enough to drive.”
Fujitsu V8 Series driver Taz Douglas will replace D’Alberto in the #3 Wilson Security Racing Falcon FG.
“Taz was our first choice and I know he’ll do a good job,” D’Alberto said.
“I’m gutted that I’m not racing. I thought we’d be in for a good weekend, so I hope the boys can make the most of it.”
Douglas will drive alongside Dale Wood, who will now lead the team, but will have a nervous wait of his own as he has never contracted the chicken pox virus …
