Fabian Coulthard has signed a new contract to extend his stay with DJR Team Penske.

The current Supercars championship leader has recommitted his future with the Queensland-based squad, which was revealed this afternoon.

DJRTP has confirmed to Speedcafe.com that a new deal has been reached although the length has been undisclosed.

Coulthard was out-of-contract at the end of the season having joined the squad at the start of the 2016 following a four-year stint at Brad Jones Racing.

The New Zealander is currently enjoying a standout campaign leading the championship standings by 10 points from team-mate Scott McLaughlin, after scoring three race victories.

“What a fantastic year it’s been so far for me, and the Shell V-Power Racing Team,” revealed Coulthard in his exclusive column for the Daily Telegraph.

“I wouldn’t want to be anywhere else in this sport, and am very happy to have a new agreement with the team.

“I’m really looking forward to continued success with this team in 2017 and into the future.”

DJRTP managing director Ryan Story is pleased to have secured Coulthard’s future at the team.

The new deal ensures the outfit will field an unchanged driver line-up next year after McLaughlin agreed a multi-year contract with the team last year.

“We’re delighted with the efforts of both Fabian and Scott and the results to date for Shell V-Power Racing Team,” said Story.

“Effort equals results, and stability will only make us stronger as a team.”
