The start of the Formula 1 season could undergo another reshuffle should coronavirus concerns in Europe not ease.
Bahrain is set to host the opening round of the year before the circus travels to Imola for Round 2.
The venue for the third round has not yet been confirmed, though is widely tipped to be Portimao in Portugal.
However, escalating instances of coronavirus in Portugal could see those plans change.
It’s been suggested that, should Portimao no longer be an option, Bahrain could host two events at the start of the year.
Imola would then move to the third round of the year, likely delayed a week to create space for the Bahrain double-header.
The Sakhir circuit last year played host to two consecutive rounds of the championship; the Bahrain Grand Prix and the Sakhir Grand Prix.
It saw two alternate circuit configurations used, with the first weekend’s racing run on the traditional circuit (won by Lewis Hamilton) and the second on the Outer Loop variant, which was sensationally won by Racing Point’s Sergio Perez.
Such a change would mark the second revision to the calendar already, after the Australian Grand Prix was last month postponed from March to November.
Pre-season testing has also shifted from Spain to Bahrain, with teams set for their sole outing on March 12-14.
A two week break follows before the opening round of the year at the same venue on March 28.
