Anton De Pasquale has worked on bringing more ‘finesse’ to his driving as he completed his second rookie test day today at Winton Motor Raceway.

The Erebus Thermosphere Racing driver cut laps around the rural Victorian circuit in his first test outing since the season began with events at Adelaide, Albert Park, and Symmons Plains.

“It was good, obviously good to do our first test day since racing has started,” De Pasquale told Speedcafe.com.

“I know a lot more about what I need to work on to go faster, so we can spend a lot of time on that, and at the same time we’ve been to three pretty different circuits now and we kind of know what we need to find.

“We’re trying some things that we’ve tried on race weekends because we’re not too sure they did too well and we can try and work out if our direction’s been good, baseline a few things, and sort of get direction that way.”

The 22-year-old, who has vied with Jack Le Brocq as the best performing of the five rookies so far this season, said that he was working to try and emulate team-mate David Reynolds’ smoothness behind the wheel.

“Just things that I’ve been doing a little bit different to Dave,” he said when asked what his specific areas of focus were.

“Just more finesse in what I am doing, trying to make everything a little bit smoother and nicer with the car, and the car should respond and give me better feedback at the same time.

“(It was) working on the little fine details and the one percenters as you say, just trying to make it all a bit better.”

De Pasquale and the rest of the Virgin Australia Supercars Championship field will return to the scene of his first win in a Supercar when the WD-40 Phillip Island 500 takes place on April 20-22.
