Mark Robinson has taken his second consecutive Australian V8 Dirt Modified Title at Supercheap Auto Archerfield Speedway leading home Kevin Britten and Victorian Mick Kiraly.
Robinson took his Castrol EDGE-backed machine to the lead on the 10th lap and from there surged forward to take a strong victory – his third time as Australia #1.
After suffering a blown engine last weekend, Kiraly put in a superb performance on the tight Brisbane track to secure third placing. Fourth went to antoher Victorian in Daniel Scott, whilst rounding out the top five was pole sitter, David Clarke.
Robinson had to hang tough through a number of late race restarts to take the win.
It was a highly emotional victory for the Lismore (Northern New South Wales) based team with the entire family on hand, with his young daughter having battled illness throughout the last 12 months. It also coupled with the weekend of his wedding anniversary.
In a double Australian Championship evening in Brisbane, Mark Lincoln won the Australian AMCA Nationals Championship from Tim Reidy.
