Entries have opened for the 2024 Hi-Tec Oils Bathurst 6 Hour which will take place on Mount Panorama across the Easter weekend on March 29-31.
Promoters of the event, the Australian Racing Group, are expecting another bumper rollup for the eighth running of the Production Car endurance race, on the back of the growth of the category this year.
The Online Entry Form and 2024 Supplementary Regulations, which are consistent with previous years, can be accessed from the official event website www.bathurst6hour.com.au. The grid capacity will remain at 70 cars with a reserve list should entry numbers surpass that.
MRF Tyres is again the official control tyre and is also a major partner of the event.
Fifty-nine of the 66 entries started this year’s race. It was won by Simon Hodges and Jayden Ojeda in a BMW F82 M4 after a late-race restart from a Safety Car. Less than 3s covered the top three at the finish.
Over the three days this year over 16,000 attended the incident-filled enduro where the top 11 finished on the lead lap. They covered 112 laps and just over 695kms. BMW teams have locked out the three podium places in each of the last three events.
While the marque is expected to be the one to beat in Outright and Class X Ultimate Performance, there will likely be an influx of competition in the other classes for the race-within-the-race.
Mitsubishi EVOs have been the prevalent car in Class A Extreme Performance Forced Induction where the BMW M135i, the Volkswagen Goff R and new Toyota Yaris GT will contend for the win.
Ford Mustang has dominated Class A2 Extreme Performance Naturally Aspirated. It has topped the class on the last three occasions but is likely to be challenged by the introduction of the Chevrolet Camaro.
The other classes are High Performance forced Induction (B1), High Performance Naturally Aspirated (B2), Performance (C), Production (D) and Compact (D).
The Bathurst 6 Hour race starts at 11:15 AEDT when the green flag is displayed to commence the formation lap.
