A 17-car field is set to tackle this weekend’s first round of the Australian Formula Ford Championship at Sydney Motorsport Park.
Just over half of the drivers on the entry list are rookies, including seven out of the 12 in the Duratec-powered Formula Ford class.
The comparatively experienced Tom Sargent, however, arrives at ‘Eastern Creek’ off the back of a recent clean sweep of a Victorian state round at Sandown.
He, Cody Donald, and Cody Burcher, are being tipped as outright title contenders in the seven-round season.
Practice is being held today, with qualifying and three races to come from Saturday.
