Erebus Motorsport will test at Winton next Tuesday as it continues to develop its ex-Walkinshaw Holdens.
To be undertaken by the team on the way to the Coates Hire Sydney 500, the test will see the squad evaluate a revised front-end.
Erebus had an extra day’s testing up its sleeve after an attempted run in June was rained out.
Tuesday will mark the first time that lead driver David Reynolds has been able to test with engineer Alistair McVean, who joined the team in October.
“We have some new front-end suspension concepts that we want to test, for 2017 but also possibly Homebush,” Reynolds said.
“It will give us a better idea heading into next year, and it also gives us an opportunity to try a bunch of things that we really don’t get to try at the track.
“Al and myself haven’t had a test day together, we’ve just been turning up to race meetings and trying to tune the car once we’re there.”
Erebus general manager Barry Ryan confirmed that the team is only set to run one car at the test, leaving its Shae Davies driven entry in the transporter.
“Testing one of your cars on the way to a race meeting is not the perfect situation but this break has allowed us to put some pretty strong options together,” Ryan said.
“We have developed parts that we want to have a look at and get some miles on, then we can make the call whether that is the direction we will head.
“The test will be very constructive and methodical; our entire team has been working very well together and Dave’s enthusiasm to build towards having a better package inspires everyone to work hard.”
Prodrive will meanwhile be in action at Winton tomorrow, undertaking a rookie test day with Cameron Waters and the #6 Monster Energy Ford.
DJR Team Penske has also been on track since Pukekohe, testing at Queensland Raceway last week with Fabian Coulthard and Tony D’Alberto, who subbed for the Walkinshaw-bound Scott Pye.
