The legendary British commentator Murray Walker has been diagnosed with cancer.
Walker, a great supporter of Speedcafe, helped launch the Speedcafe.com version of the website in 2011.
Doctors have managed to detect the lympathic cancer in its early stages which gives the 89-year-old hope that treatment will be successful.
“They’ve caught it incredibly early. It’s treatable, the doctors say my condition is mild and I’m very hopeful,” Walker told the BBC.
Walker had broken his pelvis after falling last month when tests revealed the presence of the cancer.
Up until recent years Walker had been a regular visitor and guest commentator at the V8 Supercars showcase weekend, the Clipsal 500 in Adelaide.

Walker also commentated on the Super Touring Bathurst 1000 editions won by Geoff and David Brabham in a BMW 320i in 1997 and the following year when Jim Richards and Rickard Rydell took victory in a Volvo S40.
