The legendary F1 engineer and team boss will serve as a strategic advisor to Pramac team principal Paolo Campinoti, marking Brawn’s first major motorsport role since departing Formula One Management at the end of 2022.

Brawn’s arrival strengthens the leadership structure at the reigning MotoGP team, with Pramac praising the 71-year-old’s “vision, knowledge and winning mentality” following one of the most decorated careers in modern motorsport.

Across more than four decades in F1, Brawn collected 22 world titles, including 11 constructors’ championships and 11 drivers’ championships through his work with Benetton, Ferrari, Brawn GP and Mercedes.

The Briton famously played a key role in Michael Schumacher’s championship-winning success at Benetton and Ferrari before leading his own Brawn GP squad to a fairytale title double in 2009.

That team later evolved into Mercedes’ factory operation, with Brawn helping lay the foundations for the dominance that followed through the 2010s and early 2020s.

After stepping away from team management, Brawn returned to the sport in an executive role under Liberty Media, serving as Formula 1’s managing director of motorsports and technical director between 2017 and 2022.

Now, he is swapping four wheels for two in a move few expected.

“I‘m delighted to join the board of Pramac Racing Limited in a non-executive role,” Brawn said.

“Motorsport has always been about people, teamwork and continuous improvement, and I look forward to supporting Paolo and the team and contributing where my experience may be useful.

“Pramac has built an impressive organisation with a strong spirit and ambition, and I‘m excited to be part of its future.”

Campinoti said Brawn’s appointment came after a long-standing friendship between the pair.

“I am very proud to welcome Ross to Pramac Racing,” he said.

“Beyond his extraordinary career and achievements in Formula 1, Ross is someone with whom I have shared a friendship and a relationship of great respect for many years.

“I believe that his vision, knowledge and winning mentality will make a valuable contribution to the continued growth and development of Pramac Racing.”

Pramac has endured a tough start to the 2026 MotoGP season, scoring points in only three rounds so far to sit last in the teams’ standings with six points.
