Ace Kiwi Fabian Coulthard has claimed pole position for Race 7 in the ITM 400 Auckland round at Pukekohe Park.
Coulthard (Lockwood Commodore) led a brace of drivers who dipped under the 1:03s barrier around the revised 2.9km South Auckland circuit.
Coulthard recorded a 1:02.6310s lap to edge out Craig Lowndes (Red Bull Racing Commodore) who clocked 1:02.6774s with his team-mate third in 1:02.7217s.
The fastest eight drivers all posted laps in the 1:02s range as clouds gathered over the circuit to make qualifying conditions ideal.
The full grid for Race 7 has been now been set with the top 10 shootout only determined the front five row order for Race 6.
Both races will be over 35 laps with no pit stops.
