Prodrive Racing Australia co-owner Rusty French has taken a class podium in the Brickyard Vintage Racing Invitational on the Indianapolis road course.
French contested two races for the GT4 category, driving his Dave Roberts/Hawk Racing-owned Chevrolet Corvette to 15th outright and seventh in class in Race 1.
He then produced an impressive performance in Race 2 to finish fourth outright and second in class.
French, who missed the weekend's Touring Car Masters round at Hidden Valley to participate in the event, has expressed a desire for future US outings as a result of his experience.
“Indianapolis is an absolute ‘must do track' and really is quite a challenge,” said French.
“The front and back straight speeds are fantastic with both straights leading into heaving braking zones, while there are also plenty of fast and flowing corners to negotiate.
“I thoroughly enjoyed driving on it and was really coming to grips with the place during the final race.
“Being here at this event has been an awesome experience and I really have to thank Dave Roberts from Hawk Performance for providing me with this wonderful opportunity.
“The event is huge, with over 600 entries and they put on a great show, both on and off track.
“On the back of my competitive showing in the Corvette I'm hoping to do some more racing in the USA at some stage in the future.”
